Nikon Z fc IR720nm Infrared Converted Camera – 720nm IR Photography

Discover a different side of photography with this Nikon Z fc professionally converted for 720nm infrared photography. The camera has been personally converted, tested and focus-checked by me and is ready to use for IR720nm false-color and black-and-white infrared photography.

The original sensor filter has been replaced with a dedicated 720nm infrared filter, allowing you to capture the distinctive tones, dramatic contrast and surreal rendering that make infrared photography so fascinating.

Nikon Z fc 720nm Infrared Conversion

This Nikon Z fc has been internally converted using an R72-type 720nm infrared filter in place of the original anti-aliasing/filter glass.

The installed filter has a spectral response similar to the well-known Hoya R72:

  • Approximately 50% transmission at 700nm

  • Approximately 90% transmission from 720nm to beyond 1300nm

  • Allows a small amount of deep red visible light near the infrared spectrum to pass

The result is a versatile classic 720nm infrared camera capable of producing both striking monochrome infrared photographs and beautiful false-color images.

Unlike very deep infrared filters, a 720nm conversion retains enough near-visible spectral information to provide creative possibilities for false-color IR photography. In bright sunlight, particularly when shooting RAW and processing the files with techniques such as channel mixing, you can achieve warm false colors, bright foliage, dark skies and dramatic high-contrast monochrome results.

Infrared photography offers an entirely different way of interpreting familiar landscapes, architecture and natural subjects, making this converted Nikon Z fc an excellent creative tool for photographers who want to explore beyond the visible spectrum.

Personally Converted, Adjusted and Tested

I have experience converting Nikon cameras for infrared photography. Each camera I convert is personally tested by taking real infrared photographs to ensure that it operates correctly and produces the expected results.

The focus of this camera has been checked and adjusted using a Nikkor 50mm prime lens. Other compatible lenses can also produce sharp infrared images, although—as with infrared photography in general—individual lenses may behave differently in terms of infrared focus and hotspot performance.

The camera is fully functional and in the condition shown in the photographs.

Why Choose a Nikon Z fc for Infrared Photography?

The Nikon Z fc combines a compact mirrorless body, a high-quality 20.9 MP APS-C sensor and the versatility of the Nikon Z mount. After its dedicated 720nm infrared conversion, it becomes an excellent camera for photographers interested in:

  • 720nm infrared photography

  • False-color infrared landscapes

  • Black-and-white infrared photography

  • Fine-art photography

  • Nature and foliage photography

  • Architectural infrared photography

  • Experimental and creative photography

Because the infrared filter is installed internally, there is no need to place a 720nm filter in front of the lens for normal IR720nm shooting. This makes a permanently converted mirrorless camera much more convenient for dedicated infrared photography.
